A 'miller' in this sense is a kind of moth with powdery-looking wings and body. (I wouldn't have used it in the phrase 'moths, millers, and gnats' myself because it's already covered by the mention of moths, but that's just me.)

fulvid - synonym for 'tawny' (as a colour).

purpuric is the adj. form of purpura - a condition caused by hemorrhages in the skin & mucous membranes, resulting in the appearance of purplish spots or patches

schlimaz(e)l - someone who is unlucky (another word I've encountered before but couldn't have defined if pressed)

voile - a light, plain-weave, sheer fabric of cotton, rayon, silk, or wool, used especially for making dresses and curtains

marquetry - material (e.g. wood, ivory) inlaid piece by piece into a wood surface in an intricate design and veneered to another surface (especially of furniture) for decoration. Another case of a word I've encountered before but could not have defined if pressed.

linenfold - a style of relief carving used to decorate wood paneling to look like folded linen

coffered - (architecture) to supply (e.g. a ceiling) with decorative sunken panels
